Don't let the life you want to live be defined by the job you take. Instead: take the job that allows you to live the life you want to live! In this video, we explore The Job Search Network's framework: the Job Worth Triangle.
This framework defines key value elements to consider when thinking of accepting a job offer that goes beyond base salary.

"βThe value of the job of what you're looking for goes far beyond compensation. β Hi, I'm CJ, founder of the Job Search Network. Let me show you how you can spot the full value in the job of what you're looking for. βReality is everyone is different. We are all trying to live the life that we want to live. But too often, β we allow the job that we accept to dictate the life of what we are living, instead of focusing β on finding the job that aligns and supports the life we want to live. This is why I created the framework of β the Job Worth Triangle. There are three things that every job offers at some level: compensation, accomplishment, and connection. But how you prioritize those three things may not align with what the job offers.β We'll come back to prioritizing, but let's dive into how you can identify the value of each of these three offerings. β First, compensation, and I mean total compensation, not just your base salary. β You need to ask, are there bonuses involved in this position, whether it's sign-on bonus, target bonus, retention? Are there opportunities for better retirement accounts or pensions, anything that helps you save with a 401K? What are the costs and the quality of the benefits of what you expect to receive across your health benefits, dental, vision? What are the additional education fundings in terms of what you can get for tuition reimbursement or certifications that might be important to you? What are my vacation benefits and the time out of office, office closure days, anything that allow you to live that life in terms of what you wanna live? And then the unthought of costs that a lot of us incur but don't think to think about in terms of commuting cost, cellphone coverage. If you're a remote worker, are they gonna cover the cost of your office, your internet, your equipment?β There are a lot of variables that go into total compensation, but if you don't ask, you don't know how to value the job. β Second, accomplishments. And I'm gonna show you a few different ways that accomplishments might look to you. β Growth. This could be growth in tools, growth in skillset, growth with new projects, growth with headcount and direct reports that are reporting to you, or ultimately, growth in title and advancement within your career. Being challenged, there's two different ways to look at that. If you are someone who wants the consistency of every day, that knowing you're going to check the box and get done with everything of what you need to do without disruption of new tasks, that is absolutely one way where you can say, "Hey, I don't want to have too many challenges." But the other element of accomplishment with challenges is some people want to be stimulated. They want new. They don't want the same monotonous work to do every day. So how you value this in terms of being challenged is gonna have two different perspective, but one way or the other, it helps you both feel accomplished with what you're doing recognition. This could be something as simple as saying hello, being told thank you, being accepted for just who you are, for what you do at the place where you go to work at. To other people, this is signs of acknowledgement of the value of what you bring. That could be promotion, that could be an annual award, that could be an employee of the month. At some point, in some way, we all wanna be recognized for the hard work, but it is different for people how they are appreciated and recognized.β Accomplishment is not staying busy. Accomplishment is showing your value and being given the opportunity to become who you want to become through your work. β Third, connection, and this goes far beyond just people. β Do you feel aligned with the mission of the company that you will be choosing to work for? Do you have a sense of belonging with the people that you're interviewing with? Do you feel the leaders will support you and the life you wanna live? βAll of this can show up as communication, respect, and trust because that's what builds genuine connection. Everybody will prioritize these differently, and it's up to you to figure out your priorities. But we can help with that. β If you comment clear vision guide down below, we'll provide you with a link for a free guide around creating a clear vision that has an exercise for how to prioritize your job worth triangle. β And if you join our community, we'll give you the coaching of how to apply the job worth triangle learnings throughout the job seeker journey. βBecause again, what a job offers and what you are worth is much more than just a salary. We want you to find the life you wanna live. Come join us at the Job Search Network and we can help you find it."
